I chose my career because I liked the idea of working with my hands and science at the same time. My father was an orthopedic surgeon and we were very close when I was growing up. At 18, I knew I wanted to be a doctor. I thought I was going to go into Internal Medicine, but during medical school I liked the ability to fix things in orthopedics. I interacted with a lot of hand surgeons during my residency and liked the idea of still working in orthopedics while working with soft tissue and microsurgery.

I love the patients that I get to work with every day. In my opinion, attitude is everything. Most of my patients are those that get their hands dirty every day. They use their hands to keep our cars running, to lay brick, and to maintain our beautiful landscaping. They want to get back to work to provide for their families. I like being an integral part of that.

All of my days in this profession are so good. I always have my patients' best interest at heart and they are so appreciative of the extra time I take to make sure that happens.
