I tore both my ACL and MCL while playing football in high school and I was impressed by the orthopedic surgeon that treated me. I was always good with my hands and I thought that I wanted to be a heart surgeon. But then I realized that my brain worked better dealing with broken bones. I enjoy what I do. I have a non-operative practice now, but 90% of patients that I see don't need surgery. I'm direct and to the point when I'm talking to my patients. I wish that most people were better consumers of medical care. They seem to spend more time choosing a new TV than choosing a doctor. That's crazy to me because you can live with a bad picture but what we do affects your life. This is my 32nd year of practicing orthopedics. I know all of my patients can say I was honest with them.
