My enthusiasm for orthopedics evolved from my interest in engineering, sports and the ability to use my hands as well as my mind in the practice of medicine. The opportunities offered by my internship and military experience solidified my decision to practice orthopedics. Orthopedics offers a great opportunity to work in the mission field as well as helping the entire age spectrum of patients. I have volunteered on numerous foreign medical mission. The best part of my job is relating to people, not just replacing their joints but helping deal with other medical problems.I enjoy the challenge of dealing with difficult people and difficult problems in all disciplines of orthopedics from hand problems to the spine.Staying current on the latest innovations in orthopedics makes the specialty vibrant and dynamic. I enjoy the challenge of keeping on top of the nuances, current research and best practices in my field. I continue to attend medical meetings and read numerous journals. Orthopedics is never dull.
