When I was 14, my next door neighbor, who was an orthopedic surgeon, took me to work with him one day. That was probably the first time I thought about becoming a doctor. I played football and rugby in college and after several fractures and injuries I spent a lot of time interacting with orthopedic surgeons. When I realized that my dream of becoming a professional football player was not in the cards due to my size, I decided that I would be a doctor. At first, my goal was to become a pediatrician but I soon realized that although I really like kids, I do not necessarily like sick kids.

In orthopedics, we see a problem and we fix it. Our patients are hurt, not sick, and I enjoy getting my patients better. I pride myself on educating every patient that walks through my door. In my opinion, an educated patient is a better patient. I want you to understand what is wrong and the options that could fix you. The hardest part of my job is meeting a patient for whom an immediate fix is not readily available. Either way, I intend to spend enough time with you to ensure that you know the short and long term goals of your care.
